The Council on Water Quality is a public education project dedicated to ensuring that:

  • the media and the public have access to credible information about perchlorate in the environment;

  • best available science drives government actions on setting standards for perchlorate in water; and

  • the potential impacts of perchlorate regulation on water systems, agriculture and taxpayers are understood.

The Council on Water Quality is supported by Lockheed Martin, Aerojet, Tronox and American Pacific Corporation. These companies have worked cooperatively with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to increase scientific and medical understanding of perchlorate's risk to human health.
